Description
Photographs relating to the administrative officers of the Baltimore Sun newspaper; many relate to Van-Lear Black. Named Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1914, Black held this position until his death in 1930. One image features H.L. Mencken as part of a boardroom gathering.

The collection also contains noteworthy front pages and partial issues of the Sun, Evening Sun, and Washington Times newspaper. Events range mostly from the late 1930s to early 1940s and include: pre-WWII political events in Europe, the initiation of the war, and the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Other issues relate to the WWI German surrender (Washington Times) as well as the 9-11-2001 terrorist attacks and the final issue (9-15-1995) of the Evening Sun.
