Description
Original draft for George Washington's resignation speech which he delivered to Continental Congress in the State House, Annapolis. On December 23, 1783, General Washington resigned as Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Army. The collection also includes a letter written by James McHenry to Margaret (Peggy) Caldwell, describing what he witnessed that day as General Washington addressed the Congress in the Old Senate Chamber.
