Description
Manuscript autobiography of Fred Besley (in Besley's hand), Maryland's first state forester, and a later typescript transcription of this same document. Besley's manuscript listing of his honors and awards also included. Additionally, the collection includes biographical information written by Besley family members, programs from testimonial and anniversary dinners, forestry articles, and photographs.
History
Gifted to the Maryland State Archives by Mr. Kirk P. Rodgers, a grandson of Fred Besley.
