Includes photocopy (4 pages) of the original and a transcription ( 2 pages) of the same, starting: "My Father's family is traced back for a considerable number of years."
And ending: "neither can I withhold a most grateful expression of thanksgiving to God Almighty that I should have descended from a root so evidently a child of God and that a link of the chain should remain in myself, as the God son, of son of this parent."

Description
Diary of Joseph Nourse, February 2, 1777 - March 1, 1777
Joseph Nourse was with the Continental Army at their winter quarters at Morristown, New Jersey. His journal for the month of February, 1777 includes a description of a skirmish with the British with about 400 militia and volunteers on the American side and mentions of:
  • Lord Sterling/Stirling
  • George Washington
  • Major General Green(e)
The last few pages of the journal are mostly ripped out and therefore illegible.
