*In January of 1984, Monsieur Noel Josephe, President of the Nord-Pas de Calais Region of France, came to Maryland to participate in Bicentennial events since the French had a major influence on the Treaty of Paris and the fact that Monsieur Josephe represented Maryland's French Sister-State.
A drawing was also done and the winner was awarded a week long trip to Nord-Pas de Calais.
