Description
Book by Governor Theodore R. McKeldin, Washington Bowed, (Baltimore: Maryland Historical Society, 1956), presentation copy inscribed to Gertrude Poe, Editor, of The News Leader on November 14, 1956.

This book focuses on the resignation of General George Washington in the Old Senate Chamber in the State House, Annapolis, Maryland on December 23, 1783. Includes 1950s photographs of the Old Senate Chamber, the State House, the Edwin White painting of "Washington Resigning His Commission," and "President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his office in the White House, receiving the Maryland State flag from Governor Theodore R. McKeldin."
