Dowsett Collection of Sands Family Papers.

Two letters from Sergeant William Sands to his family in Annapolis, Maryland. Sands was among the first troops sent from Maryland to join George Washington on Long Island: Philadelphia July 20th 1776 and New York August 14th 1776.
