File contains letters from the Maryland Council of Defense, Woman’s Section for Worcester County and Women’s Preparedness and Survey Commission. Letters discuss the organization of workers at the local level, organizing new committees and patriotic meetings, suggestions of possible committee members and replacements for departing members, requests for reports as well as specific information to include in reports, posting information, advertising meetings, arrangements for speakers, notification a visits by state representative, health of family members, canceling meetings due to influenza outbreak, and filling the position of County Nurse. The names of many local women appear in the letters, some of whom include: Mrs. Gregor, Mrs. Clayton J. Purnell, Mrs. Wharton, Katherine Pilchard, Mrs. George Barnes, Mrs. Edna Duffy, Mrs. Edward Whaley, Mrs. Potter, Miss Helen Bishop, Mrs. Lloyd, Mrs. Jenkins, Mrs. John Staton, Mrs. M. G. Blachly, Mrs. Wisehart, Julia M. Robins, and Julia A. Purnell.
