Description
Correspondence in this file deals primarily with Miss Handy’s participation in women’s clubs. She received letters from Julie M. Robins, Mrs. Harvey Long of Federalsburg, Mary B. Pusey, Louise E. Carrington, Maggie P. Wilson, and Mrs. G.L. Barnes. In addition the following organizations also communicated with Miss Handy: Maryland Association of Workers for the Blind, Woman Suffrage League of Maryland, and The Social Service Club of Maryland. A postcard from the Executive Board and Advisory Council of the Maryland State Federation of Women’s Clubs was sent to Miss Handy via Miss M. L. White in Ashton, Maryland. In addition, there is a letter from the Superintendent of the Board of Education of Baltimore County addressed to Louise C. Bruchner. There is a flyer offering free lectures on various forest subjects by the Maryland State Board of Forestry and a newspaper clipping from May 30, 1919 on the celebration of returning African-American soldiers to Berlin (Maryland).
