Other contents in the file relates to the administration, operation, and collection of material for the Friendly Library in Berlin, Maryland. Correspondents include Bernard C. Steiner at the Enoch Pratt; Margaret Roberts Hodges, professional genealogist; Chalmers Hadley with the Publishing Board at the American Library Association; R. B. Handy in the Document Section, Division of Publications, U.S. Department of Agriculture; Julia A. Hopkins, Assistant Librarian at Drexel Institute of Art Science and Industry; The Baker & Taylor Co.; Kellogg Toasted Corn Flake Co.; and E. W. Keat. Julia A. Graff sent a letter to Calvin B. Taylor asking if the Library would like slightly worn publications. In that letter she also discussed her son’s itinerary for his trip around the world on the eve of war. There is also a letter addressed to William M. Handy from J.C. O’Laughlin regarding the transmittal of public documents to his sister’s library. Several notes are included from Margaret Purnell, one of which mentions the efforts of Margaret Morris to close the Library. |
