Dear Dr. Papenfuse and Dear Owen:
Attached, please find a detailed summary of what I learned from The Sun today. My overall impression is that there is an excellent fit between the combined story of the unidentified “prominent white man” depicted in the stories of The Sun and Baldwin’s account. If the MDSA is open next Tuesday (January 4th 2010), I would like to visit to try to get a hold of the NW Police District Dockets that include June 9/10, 1908. Although those days are *not* included in the consolidated documents, each district is still available. Hopefully, we will get lucky and get Sidonia (spelling varies, The Sun’s editorial staff was not ideally meticulous) Young (“colored”) of 501 [sic: 510?] Tyson Street (or Alley), Judge Tyson as magistrate. Would a white man be listed and case dismissed? In my readings, there were no additional arrestees included. If she is in the dockets, then I will just need to get the Case number and wait a few days/weeks for the book that has the testimony of her case. If this lead is promising, I will try to request images/maps (if available) for this property at that time.
