Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George received letters from Ted, and heard that Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) was doing well and went sailing. Bags were received from Captain Clarke, and Mary Robinson is going to come visit. It has rained twice, but otherwise has been dry. News of the war has been in the papers, Hooker was in close quarters, but there has not been much news of the movement of either army. General Shenck barricaded the streets leading to Madison St. in case Hooker was defeated. Sis (likely Mary J. Corner) ordered some fruit, and Rach (Rachel Shaffer) is feeling better. Mrs. Adair asked after her. Bell is doing well and is pleased with Caroline's job as cook. Tabulation of cost of supplies on back of letter.
