Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. George arrived home safely after a visit despite cars from Washington being crowded, and without the baby (maybe George Corner) catching a cold. They both received letters from sister Mary Robinson who was not able to visit. Some business is discussed, as well as repayment for supplies. Also discussion of some visitors to the house. People mentioned: Mr. Bailey, Mr. Henry, Pam Richardson, Marion, Hawley, Dr. Snole, Mr. Cooper, Mr. Gere, Mezick (Mezick Corner), Mrs. Shaffer, Mr. Dashiel, Mr. Fish, the baby (George Corner), Rachel (Rachel Shaffer), and the children (Theodore Shaffer Corner and Carrie Jane Corner).

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. Captain Pettiborne is taking supplies from George to Ted. Discussion of business and amount of things borrowed from other people and on board the ship. This is with Captain Clark and George Roszel. Discussion of gold prices, yesterday it was 162, and now today down to 158. Also of affairs and travels of mutual acquaintences or friends. People mentioned: Rachel (Rachel Shaffer), Mr. Ed Owen, Mr. Sheirs, Henry (maybe Henry Corner), Henry's father (maybe Solomon Corner), Mr. Cooper, Sherwood Binyon, Randolph, Gere, Gibson, Carroll.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. Memorandum of supplies on board Captain Pettiborne's ship for Ted. Tho Mezick (Thomas Mezick) is on board as well. These will be left with Mr. Kent. The family is doing well except Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) is confined to bed. Gold has declined to 157 yesterday in New York.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. Bills enclosed to pay Thomas Mezick. Ted's gold is unsold, and asks what price to sell it at, current price 138%. A letter received from Captain White, who arrived in Montevideo, and is receiving freight from Buenas Aires to New York. Discussion of flour availability, including in Rio. Phipps and Adelaide Cargo mentioned. Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) is still ill, and Mezick (Mezick Corner) is on his way to Paris through Turin. The Kedren is having three new masts put in. No news from Sister (unknown, either Sarah Jane Corner or Isabell Corner).

Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. Sister (either Sarah Jane Corner or Isabell Corner) and Jimmy (maybe James Corner Hiss) visited and brought a letter from Ted. Jimmy went home and was met by Sam at Magnolia. Sam was offered a job as a book keeper by Mr. Norris. Mrs.Will Corner has a fine boy and is doing well according to Grandpa. Mr. Shaffer (Frederick Shaffer) passed along wedding invitations for Ted to deliver to those addressed. Mrs. Gray the young preacher's wife died on Friday night and her body was sent to her parents in Huntingdon, PA. George attended sermons by Mr. Gibson and Mr. Kendric Riley, and discusses church matters. Ma is getting up but still not doing well, the rest of the family is well.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. Sis (probably Mary J. Corner) has been looking at auctions for Ted without much luck, Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) will send a spare refrigerator when she is able to. The Brickhead is planning to go to sea, with passengers being the Captain, the Captain's wife and daughters, Miss Murphy from Harford, and Miss Michaels from near Perrymansville. Captain White came to visit and plans to visit Ted soon. George took up his old pump, and offered it to Ted for his house in case of fire. Sister (either Sarah Jane Corner or Isabell Corner) came to visit, and Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) is feeling a bit better.

Description
Letter: To "Ted (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). [Baltimore]. George is glad to hear that Rach (Rachel Shaffer) is feeling better, Mr. Shaffer (Frederick Shaffer) was about to send down Mrs. Shaffer until they received the letter by Tom. Clark came to visit and George is sending him to Ted with the refridgerator and other supplies, except the pump which needs to be fixed by Mr. Dorry. Jim Lemmon wants to put out his daughter and asked if Ted would want her as a nurse or house servant. She is about 15 or 16 years old. Discussion of news from Vicksburg, that it looks "rather squally for the Confeds," but the capture has not been confirmed. Gold prices have dropped to 46. Theodore Johnson, 1st mate of the Continental, died as he fell into the sea and was eaten by a shark. It is said it must have been sad for Meck (probably Mezick Corner). Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) is feeling much better in the warm weather. The preachers (assumed Mr. Gibson and Mr. Kendric Riley) and their families were invited over for dinner, and there was a grand christening. Those christened by Mr. Gere were one of Mr. Gibson's children, two of Mary Dorry's and George's baby (likely George Corner). The Brickhead went to sea Tuesday morning.

Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George received letters from Ted, and heard that Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) was doing well and went sailing. Bags were received from Captain Clarke, and Mary Robinson is going to come visit. It has rained twice, but otherwise has been dry. News of the war has been in the papers, Hooker was in close quarters, but there has not been much news of the movement of either army. General Shenck barricaded the streets leading to Madison St. in case Hooker was defeated. Sis (likely Mary J. Corner) ordered some fruit, and Rach (Rachel Shaffer) is feeling better. Mrs. Adair asked after her. Bell is doing well and is pleased with Caroline's job as cook. Tabulation of cost of supplies on back of letter.

Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George received Ted's letter and is glad to hear that his vistors are enjoying themselves. Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) is visiting him, as well as Mary Robinson. Captain Pettiborne also went to visit, but went up the Severn River to deliver some empty boxes first. Coal prices have gone up $8. Sis (likely Mary J. Corner) and Bell (Bell Shaffer?) went to Lexington Market. The newspapers say that rebels are coming over the Potomac, either to Pennsylvania or Washington. General Shenck continues to build fortifications around the Baltimore, and putting up earthworks around the Maryland Hospital, though they appear "flimsy." George thinks that if the rebels do attack that it would be better if the union troops let them in, as it would be too difficult to defend if fthere was a large force. Privateers are damaging shipping under the nose of the Navy. The family is doing well, and George will pay Matt's bill."

Description
Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George did not hear from Ted lately, and also no one knows the whereabouts of Mary Robinson, and are a bit concerned. Sam Richardson and Tom Corner are helping look as they go to the boats every evening. Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) and Laly (maybe Mary J. Corner) will visit soon. The Rebels are drawing closer, and a alarm was rung during the night. They thought that they were marching on Baltimore, so the Union Leagues were called to watch the barricades, but no one appeared, and they left when it began to rain. Martial law was proclaimed throughout the city and western counties of Maryland. The Federal army is falling back on Baltimore to protect it and Washington. George thinks there will be a battle nearby soon. He has bought Ted supplies. Coal, flour, and provisions prices have all advanced. The family is well.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. Discussion of who has come to visit. Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner), Laly (likely Mary J. Corner), and George's children came back from travels. Mary Robinson came up to visit and will return home with Sam Richardson. Captain Pettibone has not arrived yet. Coal prices have risen $12 for 10. Mention of the Steamer Kent. The papers said that there was a battle on July 1st, but there is no news of results. George thinks that there was "dreadful carnage on both sides." They will need to raise the flag tomorrow. Soldiers searched people's houses for weapons, and took bird guns and muskets. George, Tom (Thomas Corner), and Meck (Mezick Corner) avoided being searched. Mezick hoped to visit Ted soon. If Lee's army comes to Baltimore, George intends on sending the bark to Annapolis for Ted to look after. The family is well.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George tells Ted that he received his letter, but won't be able to send supplies for a while, as the military has prohibited any supplies being sent from the city. He still has not heard from Captain Pettibone and has been asking about him. Discussion of the weather which has been bad, and a new machine Ted has bought to help in his garden. It is unknown where Lee's army currently is, but the surrender of Vicksburg is a blow to the South. Gold prices have declined again, which has affected everything else. Mezick Corner hopes to visit Ted as soon as the restrictions are gone, as you cannot leave the city without a pass.The details of the battles have been terrible, and there is not an end in sight. George will send supplies when Pettibone returns and the barrier is lifted. Ma (Sarah Johnson Corner) had been ill, but is better, and the rest of the family is well.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. The restrictions have been lifted, and a shipment of flour will be sent to Ted as soon as able. Neither Captain Clarke or Captain Pettibone have been by recently, nor are they expected soon. Flour and provisions have gone down along with gold, all having been affected by Confederate reverses. George had a fine day, and expects that Ted worked on his harvest. It is thought that Lee will fight another battle before trying to cross the Potomac.

Letter: To "Ted" (Theodore Corner) from "George" (George Washington Corner). Baltimore. George has not heard from Ted in a few days and expects that the rain has interfered with the harvest. It is settled that Vicksburg has surrendered, and Confederate prospects don't seem great. Lee favors crossing into Virginia without another battle if possible, but circumstances are against him. Gold prices are down again to 30.5 a 31 in New York. Thomas Corner went to Gettysburg to look after Colonel Herbert, a relative of Sally's (Sallie Cromwell), who was wounded. Will Cromwell and Rich Cromwell went previously and are coming back, but Thomas will stay for about two weeks. The wounded are arriving every day, with Federal counts up to 12000. Bell (Bell Shaffer?) had another daughter and is doing well. Sis (Mary J. Corner) stayed with her. A letter is enclosed from Sis to Rach (Rachel Shaffer) as well as an account record. No news from Captain Clarke or Captain Pettibone.
