Description
Letter from Maria E. Tilghman to her father John Gibson, Magothy. Kitty Elbert and her four children and Anne Seth are staying with the Tilghmans. Kitty's husband, William Elbert, has suffered some misfortune and is in Chester, PA. Kitty is thinking "of going in Mr. Lloyd's vessel to see the Governor" and asks that Gibson meet her there. Their property at the Nine Bridges has been taken by creditors. Maria indicates that perhaps the Elbert's extravagance is to blame for their circumstances. Mention of "Sam Ringgold and several gentlemen dining at Mr. Lloyd's", Mr. Tighman also attending.
