The United States Catholic Magazine began publication January 6, 1849 [v. 8, no. 1] and ceased December 29, 1849 [v. 8, no. 52]. It was published weekly as the "Offical organ of the Most Rev. Archbishop of Baltimore, and the Rt. Bishop, of Richmond, and published with the approbation of the Right Bishops of the United States." Title from caption. he newspaper continues the United States Catholic Magazine and Monthly Review (Baltimore) and was continued by the Catholic Mirror (Baltimore: 1850).
