Collection History
(Pocomoke City, Worcester County: Elmer M. Jackson) The Worcester Democrat began publication October 1, 1953 [vol. 73, no. 40] and ceased February 22, 1973 [v. 105, no. 2]. It was published weekly. The newspaper continues the Worcester Democrat and the Ledger-Enterprise (Pocomoke City: 1921) and merged with the Democratic Messenger (Snow Hill: 1869) to form the Worcester County Messenger (Pocomoke City: 1973). This project was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
