(Sykesville, Carroll County: The Herald Co.) The Herald-Messenger began publication November 23, 1922 [v. 10, no. 12] and ceased January 15, 1931 [v. 18, no. 21]. It was published weekly. It was also published as the Herald Messenger. The newspaper was formed by the union of the Sykesville Herald (Sykesville: 1913) and the Mount Airy Messenger (Mount Airy: 1916) and was continued by the Sykesville Herald (Sykesville: 1931).
