(Hagerstown, Washington County: Herald Pub. Co.) The Morning Herald began publication in December 1895. It was published daily, except Sunday [December 31, 1895]-April 16, 1982; daily, beginning April 17, 1892. Title history based on December 31, 1895 [v. 1, no. 2]. It was published as the Herald Mail September 15, 1953. Saturday and Sunday editions appeared as the Herald Mail beginning April 17, 1982. The newspaper was formed by the merger of the Daily Herald and Torch Light (Hagerstown: 1891) and the Morning News (Hagerstown: 1894).
