Collection History
(Baltimore: Carter & Co.) The Baltimore Daily Gazette began publication October 6, 1862 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased September 16, 1865 [v. 6, no. 904]. It was published daily, except Sunday. A triweekly edition was also published (title unknown). Publication was suspended September 30-October 6, 1863. The newspaper continues the Maryland News Sheet (Baltimore: 1861) and was continued by the Baltimore Gazette (Baltimore: 1865). Archives' collections include issues for February 27, 1864 [v. 3, no. 425] (MSA SC 2419) and July 13, 1864 (MSA SC 1925-1-10). This project has been sponsored by the Maryland State Archives and the Maryland Historical Society with funds provided by the Board of Public Works, State of Maryland, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, grant #RC 25304-77-21.
