The Daily Baltimore Republican began publication April 4, 1855 [v. 42, no. 17,215] and ceased June 8, 1861 [v. 69, no. 19,191]. It was published daily, except Sunday. It was also published as the Baltimore Republican, January 1-9, 1857. Other editions include the Baltimore Weekly Argus (Baltimore: 1850). The newspaper continues the Republican and Argus (Baltimore: 1853) and was continued by the Baltimore Republican (Baltimore: 1861).

This project was sponsored by the Maryland State Archives and the Maryland Historical Society with funds provided by the Board of Public Works, State of Maryland, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, grant #RC 25304-77-21.

Archives' collection includes issues for August 4, 1855 [v. 62, no. 17,319] (MSA SC 2894), August 16, 1855 [v. 62, no. 17,329] (MSA SC 2894), February 5, 1856 [v. 63, no. 17,463] (MSA SC 2894), and August 17, 1857 [v. 64, no. 17,933] (MSA SC 2894).
