Description
Maryland Citizen's Petition for Neutrality during the Civil War with 38 signatures. Three pages, 7.25" x 9.75", circa May 4, 1861. This petition is addressed "To the honorable Members of the Senate & Legislature of Maryland" and begins "We the undersigned Citizens of St. Mary's Co. 1st Election District, knowing the excitment under which our legislature has come together, have reason to fear hasty legislation. We would therefore respectfully Call your attention to what we believe to be the facts in the case. . ."
