Description
Petition with over 160 signatures; "To the Honorable Senate & Legislature of Maryland, The undersigned beg leave to protest to your bodies very respectfully against the passage of a law styled 'A Board of Public Safety' as a Military Despotism." The document is addressed on the verso specifically "To Majr. Genl. Kimmell, Senator of Maryland &c., with the regards of the Signers." (Anthony Kimmel was a state senator from Frederick, Maryland, and commanding general of the Fourth Division of Maryland Militia.) Docketed on the verso. With several ink stains and smudges. A tear exists near the top of the document. (one page, 7.5" x 39")
