(Baltimore: B. H. Richardson) The Republican and Argus began publication April 4, 1853 [v. 39, no. 9,588] and ceased April 3, 1855 [v. 42, no. 17,214]. The newspaper was published daily, except Sunday. Other editions include the Baltimore Weekly Argus (Baltimore: 1850). The newspaper continues the Daily Argus (Baltimore: 1852) and was continued by the Daily Baltimore Republican (Baltimore: 1855). This project was sponsored by the Maryland State Archives and the Maryland Historical Society with funds provided by the Board of Public Works, State of Maryland, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, grant #RC 25304-77-21.
