Description
Series 1 of this collection was formed from a private collection of maps featuring Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Europe, the Far East and Africa dating from the sixteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. A number of detailed Baltimore City maps are included. Maps depicting trade routes through colonial North American are of particular interest. Includes John Ogilby, Noua Terrae-Mariae tabula 1671; Fielding Lucas, Jr. Geographical, Statistical, and Historical Map of Maryland 1823; Edmond Blunt Entrance to the Chesapeake Bay... 1850; Joseph H. Colton Baltimore 1855; Simon J. Martenet Martenet's Map of Maryland (Atlas Edition) 1865; G.M. Hopkins, City Atlas of Baltimore 1875 [1876]. Portrait, William T. Snyder. Other series originate with the private papers of the donor, William T. Snyder.
