The Argus began publication in 1881 and ceased February 23, 1940 [v. 57, no. 21]. It was published weekly [February 10, 1883]-1940; semimonthly, [December 17, 1881]. Title history based on December 17, 1881 [v. 1, no. 9]. The newspaper merged with the Catonsville Herald and Baltimore Countian (Catonsville: 1929) to form the Herald Argus and Baltimore Countian (Catonsville: 1940).
