The Cecil Whig began publication August 7, 1841 [vol. 1, no. 1]. It was published daily (Monday - Friday) beginning August 7, 1989; weekly, 1841-October 22, 1986; semiweekly, October 29, 1986-August 5, 1989. The newspaper absorbed the Cecil Democrat (Elkton: 1850).
