History
(Elkton, Cecil County: P. C. Ricketts) The Cecil Whig began publication August 7, 1841 [vol. 1, no. 1]. It was published daily (Monday - Friday) beginning August 7, 1989; weekly, 1841-October 22, 1986; semiweekly, October 29, 1986-August 5, 1989. The newspaper absorbed the Cecil Democrat (Elkton: 1850). This project was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
