The Montgomery Independent began publication in 1927 and ceased September 27, 1946 [v. 20, no. 51]. It was published weekly. Title history based on August 29, 1930 [v. 3, no. 44]. The newspaper merged with the Silver Spring Standard (Silver Spring: 1937) to form the Montgomery Independent-Standard (Rockville: 1946).
