History
(Union Bridge, Carroll County: Pilot Pub. House)

The Union Bridge Pilot began publication in 1899[?] and ceased May 30, 1913 [v. 14, no. 31]. It was published weekly. Title history based on November 29, 1901 [v. 3, no. 3]. The newspaper was continued by the Pilot (Union Bridge: 1913).

The Union Bridge Pilot may have been first issued November 5, 1899. It was established through the efforts of a number of Union Bridge residents to replace the Carroll News which had been discontinued. The first available issue of the Union Bridge Pilot, January 2, 1903, indicates John R. Galt was the editor and publisher. The Pilot Publishing Company of Carroll County was incorporated April 17, 1905.
