The Torchlight & Public Advertiser began publication in 1817 and ceased November 21, 1833 [v. 20, no. 5]. It was published weekly. Title history based on January 21, 1817 [v. 3, no. 11]. The newspaper absorbed the Maryland Herald, and Hager's-Town Weekly Advertiser (Hagerstown: 1804), continues the Torch Light (Hagerstown: 1814), and was continued by the Torch Light (Hagerstown: 1833).
