History
(Cumberland, Allegany County: Samuel Charles) The Civilian began publication February 14, 1828 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased September 11, 1829 [v. 2, no. 31]. It was published weekly. The newspaper was continued by the Cumberland Civilian (Cumberland: 1829). Microfilming of these newspapers was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
