History
(Ellicott City, Howard County: L.A. Rettaliata)

The Democrat-Journal began publication September 6, 1902 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased in 1904. It was also published as the Democrat Journal. The newspaper was formed by the union of the Sykesville Journal (Sykesville) and the Ellicott City Democrat (Ellicott City: 1888) and was continued by the Journal (Ellicott City: 1904).

Microfilming of these newspapers was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
