History
(Baltimore: Dobbin & Fulton) The Baltimore Weekly American began publication in 1855[?] and ceased in 1883[?]. It was published weekly. Title history based on March 3, 1855 [v. 6, no. 1]. Other editions include the American and Commercial Advertiser (Baltimore: 1854), the Baltimore American and Commercial Advertiser (Baltimore: 1857), the American and Commercial Advertiser (Baltimore: 1861), and the Baltimore American and Commercial Advertiser (Baltimore: 1870). The newspaper continues the Baltimore Weekly American, Compendium of News and Prices Current (Baltimore: 1850) and was continued by the Baltimore American (Baltimore: 1883: weekly). Archives' collection includes issue for November 7, 1868.
