The Ellicott City Democrat began publication in 1888 and ceased August 30, 1902 [v. 15, no. 26]. It was published weekly. Title history based on November 12, 1892 [v. 5, no. 37]. The newspaper merged with the Sykesville Journal to form the Democrat-Journal (Ellicott City: 1902).

Microfilming of these newspapers was made possible through funds provided by the Maryland State Archives and the United States Newspaper Program of the Library of Congress and the Office of Preservation, National Endowment for the Humanities.
