The Baltimore Patriot & Commerical Gazette began publication April 2, 1838[?] and ceased December 31, 1859 [v. 45, no. 30]. It was published daily, except Sunday. Title history based on January 2, 1838 [v. 49, no. 2]. It was also published as the Baltimore Patriot, May 23-December 31, 1859 and the Baltimore Patriot and Commercial Gazette. Other editions include the Baltimore Patriot and Commercial Gazette (Baltimore: 1838), the Weekly Baltimore Patriot (Baltimore: 1850), and the Baltimore Weekly Patriot (Baltimore: weekly). The newspaper was formed by the union of the Baltimore Gazette and Daily Advertiser (Baltimore: 1825) and the Baltimore Patriot & Mercantile Advertiser (Baltimore: 1817) and was continued by the Baltimore Evening Patriot (Baltimore: 1860).
