The Cambridge Democrat ceased in 1866[?] and published weekly. Title history based on August 27, 1851 [v. 6, no. 40]. The newspaper continues the Democrat, and Dorchester Advertiser (Cambridge: 1845) and merged with the Cambridge Herald (Cambridge: 1857) to form the Democrat and Herald (Cambridge).

Archives' collection includes issues for August 4, 1852 [v. 7, no. 37] (MSA SC 481), November 16, 1853 [v. 8, no. 51] (MSA SC 481), and January 13, 1864 [v. 19, no. 2] (MSA SC 481).
