History

The Bowie Blade began publication February 15, 1973 [v. 7, no. 7] and ceased October 9, 1975 [v. 9, no. 38]. It was published weekly. Other editions include the Bowie Blade and Post-Times (Bowie: 1968). It was also published as the New Carrolton Blade and the Bowie Blade. First issue assumed numbering of the Bowie Blade and Post-Times. The newspaper absorbed the Bowie Blade and Post-Times (Bowie: 1968) and was continued by the Bowie Blade New Carrollton Blade and the Crofton Blade (Bowie: 1975).

Archives' collection includes issues for April 5, 1973, June 28, 1973, August 23, 1973, February 7, 1974, August 22, 1974, March 6 and 27, 1974, and May 1, 1974.
