History
(Princess Anne, Somerset County: J. Smith & Co.) The Somerset Iris and Messenger of Truth began publication June 13, 1828 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased April 7, 1829 [v. 1, no. 41]. It was published weekly. It was also published as the Somerset Iris, [March 31, 1829]. Archives' collection includes issues for June 13, August 12, 19, 1828. For abstracts, see F. Edward Wright, Maryland Eastern Shore Newspaper Abstracts Southern Counties 1825-1829 vol. 6 (Silver Spring, MD: Family Line Publications, 1984).
