History
(Bel Air, Harford County: J. M'Kenney, Jr.) The Independent Citizen began publication July 31, 1828 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased in 1834[?]. It was published weekly. The newspaper was continued by the Harford Citizen, and Cecil Whig and Courier (Bel Air: 1835). For abstracts, see: F. Edward Wright, Newspaper Abstracts of Cecil and Harford Counties 1822-1830 (Silver Spring: Family Line Publications, 1984).
