Newspaper, Maryland Advocate
History
(Cumberland, Allegany County: John M. Buchanan) The Maryland Advocate began publication September 17, 1823 and ceased in 1828. It was published weekly. The newspaper was continued by the Maryland Advocate and Farmers' and Mechanics' Register (Cumberland: 1828). For abstracts, see F. Edward Wright, Marriages and Deaths from the Newspapers of Allegany and Washington Counties 1820-1830 (Silver Spring: Family Line Publications, 1987).
