| Approximately five hundred glass plate negatives produced by New Market resident H. Hanford Hopkins, Jr. Diverse subject matter includes views of Maryland [New Market, Mount Airy, Monrovia, unidentified locations in Western Maryland, and Baltimore] and areas in South Carolina [Camden, Charleston, Dismal Swamp]. Other images include family portraits, farm scenes, logging operations, B&O locomotives and bridges, staged humor photographs, circus parades.
A photo album, containing approximately thirty black and white prints (c. 1980), is also part of the collection. Images are taken mostly from the above glass plates. Several unidentified contemporary photographs (c. 1980) of New Market buildings and other Frederick County structures are also included. 315 prints have been produced and are available for patron viewing (as of March 2004)
