The News Leader Collection

The News Leader began publication April 4, 1946 [v. 49, no. 28] and ceased June 18, 1981 [v. 85, no. 42]. It was published weekly. The newspaper was formed by the union of the Leader (Laurel: 1897) and the College Park News (College Park: 1946), absorbed the Register (Bowie: 1927). The title was sold in 1980 and later publishers changed the title to Laurel Leader (Laurel: 1981).
