| Materials relating to the career of George J. Moss as a real estate developer and broker in suburban Montgomery County in the 1920s-1950s. Moss, originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, worked for real estate companies in the Washington area and established Moss Realty Company which produced a number of suburban residential, commercial, and industrial developments in Silver Spring and elsewhere in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Washington, D.C.. Developments and properties of note include Battery Park, Garrett Park, Highland View of Sligo Park, Glover Park Hills, Branwill Park, Woodmoor, Woodmoor Shopping Center, Springbrook, Springbrook Forest, Parklawn Memorial Park and Menorah Gardens cemetery, Washington-Rockville Industrial Park, Marlow Heights Industrial Center, Airpark Industrial Center, Shady Rest Sanatorium and others. Parklawn cemetery and Washington-Rockville Industrial Park were developed on the former property of the Wilkins Estate in Rockville. |
