Paul Edward Sluby Sr., Esq. (1934–2019) was a renowned genealogist, legal researcher, and historian. Mr. Sluby was one of the founding board members of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and a prolific book author on topics ranging from African American biography and genealogical education, to Washington, D.C. and Maryland history. Mr. Sluby spent many years researching and publishing information about African American cemeteries in the District of Columbia. This collection contains copies of his published works as well as some unpublished research that he conducted, along with photographs he took and collected. Reference books and books on topics of personal interest to Mr. Sluby and his wife, Dr. Patricia Carter Sluby.
Dr. Patricia Carter Sluby is free-lance writer, biographer, genealogist, and local historian, with significant expertise on African American and women inventors from her long career with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has been mentioned in several publications including JET magazine, Ebony, and Black Enterprise.
