History
(Silver Spring, Montgomery County: [s. n.]) The Silver Spring Standard began publication October 26, 1939 [v. 1, no. 1] and ceased September 28, 1946 [v. 15, no. 29]. It was published three times a week, September 9-28, 1946; weekly, 1939-June 28, 1946; semiweekly, July 2-September 6, 1946. Later, it was published at Rockville, July 16-September 28, 1946. The newspaper merged with the Montgomery Independent (Rockville: 1927) to form the Montgomery Independent-Standard (Rockville: 1946).
