Description

A collection of works by artist William Krawczewicz, Severna Park, Anne Arundel County.


Two binders containing photocopies/printouts of William Krawczewicz’s original designs and documentation for the Maryland State Quarter Dollar, along with articles related to the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving's unveiling of his designs for the State Quarter in 2000. The State Quarter design was selected to represent the state by Governor Parris N. Glendening’s Administration.


Original doantion also included artwork to be transferred to State Art Collection by William Krawczewicz of Severna Park. Charcoal drawing, portrait, "Harriet Tubman," and preliminary drawings, including "Underground Railroad" and Linda Gunter posing as a model for the Harriet Tubman portrait. Pen and ink drawings of "Old Woman" and "Iron Bull" inspired by photographic portraits of Native Americans. SEE MSA SC 1545 for inventory and details on the fine art objects.

History
William Krawczewicz was the artist selected by Governor Glendenning to design the Maryland State Quarter for the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving.
