Description

Certificate of naturalization issued by the Baltimore County Court for Philip Laurenson, native of England who immigrated in 1798, and resided in the City of Baltimore. The document states that to become a United States citizen, Laurenson lived in Baltimore for five years, made an oath to support the Constitution of the United States and renounced his allegiance to the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The Baltimore County court issued the citizenship certificate on 9 March 1805. The original wax seal is affixed to the vellum.
