Description
IN PROCESSING Architectural blueprints for the Montrose School for Girls, part of the Maryland Juvenile Services Department. The school merged with the Barrett School for Girls under the Montrose School for Girls name in 1962 as part of desegregation. The school closed in 1988. The collection includes building and site plans, building elevations, and structural blueprints documenting the design of the building between 1949-1988.
History

The drawings were collected by the donor, Samantha Rogers, as part of her Master of Arts thesis research in historical studies, "Reformation or Retribution: Daily Life and the Landscape of Two Maryland Industrial Schools for Girls, 1916-1989" (University of Maryland Baltimore County, 2022).
