Description

IN PROCESSING: Digital collection of documents pertaining to Asbury Broadneck United Methodist Church and the community of Skidmore on the Broadneck Peninsula located near Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay. Historians Rosalyn ‘Ann Green’ Fountain & Bernadette Pulley-Pruitt compiled these documents.

The donors write: "This project seeks to tell the story of Skidmore, a historically African American descendant community, along with stories of its people and the institutions that shaped their lives. Like many communities across the South, it endured the trauma of enslavement, segregation, and systemic injustice. Despite these harsh realities, Skidmore was a vibrant and deeply rooted place, defined by resilience, strength, and a rich cultural heritage."

Series 2 includes records from the church, Asbury Broadneck United Methodist, also known by the names Little Asbury Church, Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, and Broad Neck Methodist Church
