Description
IN PROCESSING - Records from the Edelen Brothers Tobacco Warehouse. The building and creation of the Edelen Brothers Tobacco warehouses and corporation were a result of the change in tobacco selling that occurred with the change from the hogshead market to a loose-leaf market system. This occurred in the late 1930s. Eventually there were two Edelen Brothers warehouses one located in Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County (by far the busiest of the two) and La Plata in Charles County. These records consist of day books, disbursement journals, cash disbursement ledgers, and additional unrelated farm records from Prince George's County.
