Manuscript letter from Dr. Upton Scott, Annapolis, to His Excellency [the Governor of Maryland].

Two additional sheets included with the above letter. The first sheet being a list of Assembly record books and proceedings from 1636-1764, the second sheet a list of H. H. Council proceedings 1656-1660, assembly proceedings 1637-1658 and Upper House journals spanning from 1659-1742 and then 1744-1774.

Description
Manuscript resolution letter by the House of Delegates to the Governor of Maryland, January 24, 1817. Written by clerk Louis Gassaway, certified as a true copy from the original resolution by Richard Harwood, clerk of the Senate.

Purpose of the letter being: “…to call your attention to the conduct and habits of one of the members of the Judiciary… habits of Zebulon Hollingsworth of the sixth Judicial District, associate Judge, is wholly incompatible with his official character…. You are therefore requested, immediately on the receipt of this address, to remove the said Zebulon Hollingsworth from his office as associate Judge.”

Manuscript letter to the honorable the chancellor of the State of Maryland.

Letter tells of voting results for the districts and wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and concludes that William Stuart and Christopher Hughes Jr. are elected delegates for the city of Baltimore to the general assembly of Maryland on October 4, 1815. Letter stated to be a true copy from the original filed in Baltimore County court office as stated by Baltimore County court clerk William Gibson, includes Baltimore County seal.

Clerk transcribed manuscript and true copy either for or by Louis Francis Le Loup of Thomas Jefferson letter of June 11, 1806, recognizing Louis F. Le Loup as “provisioned commissary of Commercial Relations at Baltimore.”

Letter signed by Thomas Jefferson, president of United States of America and James Madison, Secretary of State. Included are photocopies of Louis F. Le Loup information including a photocopy of cover and pages 352-353 related to Louis T. Le Loup in, History of Freemasonry in Maryland, Vol. 1, 1884 by Edward T. Schultz.
